Distribution

Distribution of genetic resources and associated data

Person responsible for this processus: Marion Deloche

Management and propagation of genetic resources' associated data

Information relative to each resources, such as passport data (origin, pedigree), evaluation data (morphological, agronomical, technological and molecular) as well as seed stocks, are recorded in a database. For more than half of the bread wheat (6 298 accessions) collection and a part of barley collection (461 accessions), these data are available via Internet on SIReGal, the INRA national database of plant genetic resources.

Sample distribution

Distribution of genetic resources complies with the procedure "Distribution of Biological Resources" 13 11 39 000006, specifying the necessary steps for processing of the application until confirmation of receipt of the order by the requester.

All informations relatives to sample distribution are available into BRC Terms and Conditions.

Biological resources' request have to be done by return of BRC order request sent to the following address: crb-ara@inra.fr or by using directly the online request form on SIReGal website.

Quantity supplied

Quantity of seeds supplied is in accordance to request's target. For each accession, The amount is limited to 5 seeds of self-pollinated spike for scientific purpose (molecular analysis) or to 100 seeds of free-pollinated spike for breeding or field experimentation for wheat, barley, oat and triticale. Wild relatives being difficult to propagate, 25 seeds are sent by request. Rye being a cross-pollinated species and to ensure to requester sufficient genetic diversity, samples of 100g are provided by accession.

Documents associated

At reception of order request, a feasibility study is carried out (quantity available, regulatory aspect). After validation, a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) is written for each request and sent to the enquirer. Signature and return of document to BRC are required before order processing.

Enquirer commits to:

  • use biological resources in accordance with tha applicable legal requirements
  • refer to BRC's contribution in any publication using these genetic resources and to communicate it to BRC.

Treatment period

Seeds orders are done withon an average of 21 days after reception of necessary regulatory documents (MTA, phytosanitary certificate, ...). Shipment of order is not ensured during July and August.

Order tracking

Order tracking is made by informatic and this allows a traceability on species and accessions requested. Enquirer is informed of the despatch of his/her order.

In the framework of quality approach, a survey is made each year with enquirer of genetic resources in order to evaluate his/her satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.

An average of 4 200 samples are provided each year in France (80%) and abroad (20%).
